winner of the 9th Annual
Mine Design Competition

students) takes 1st
Place
Congratulations to all of the schools that participated in the 2006 Carlson Software National Senior Mine Design Competition. Samantha Stahle and Lucas O’Neal at West Virginia University took 1st Place, Fred Robinson and Chad Sammons at University of Kentucky took 2nd Place, and Melissa Martinie and Emily Corsale at Virginia Tech took 3rd Place. The winning project receives $2,000, 2nd Place project receives $1,000 and the 3rd Place project receives $500. Each student receives a certificate documenting the achievement. Each school has a running plaque that is updated by Carlson Software. Carlson Software will present the awards at the 2006 Annual Joint Central Appalachian Section, SME, West Virginia Coal Institute Meeting to be held at the Greenbrier Hotel at White Sulfur Springs, WV, held on October 19-21.
Carlson Software sponsors the annual competition open to the ABET accredited mining engineering schools. Each school is invited to participate, regardless of SurvCADD use.
